Why It matters To me

My acupuncture parents are all about prevention/preventative heath.  All through my childhood, I would always hear:  “if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything.”

In college, I studied Exercise Physiology because I cared about staying healthy.  I worked as an EMT and a stress lab technician (monitoring heart function while people exercised) out of college.  I started seeing the effects of poor lifestyle habits.  As a Physician Assistant, I would often hear patients joke: “whatever you do, don’t get old.”  People attributed their ailing health to their age.

I have been interested in quality of life as I age, for as long as I can remember.  Meeting enough people from all ages, I believe that age is really a mental state.  I DON’T believe in having our age define who we are, what we are capable of, or allowed to do.

Over a year after my son was born, I couldn’t get rid of stubborn belly fat, even with doing cardio and core exercises 3x/week and “eating healthy.”  I became vegetarian and shortly after dropped the weight.

Some people count calories…as a vegetarian, I was counting protein and struggling to get in over 30g of protein a day, without going overboard with my carbohydrate intake.  After my daughter was born, I started noticing muscle loss.  I was going up the stairs one day and looked down at my thighs. To my shock, they were stick thin, like I had just gotten out of a concentration camp.  I thought I was going to have to switch back to eating meat.

At the time, I recently finished a 30 day green smoothie challenge, bought organic, bought from local farmers, but found myself spending more time in the kitchen, prepping my smoothies that didn’t make me feel any different.  I was exhausted and felt like I was wasting my life away in the kitchen for minimal return.  If I couldn’t keep this up, how could others, who don’t care as much as I do about health?

I was introduced to the science behind telomeres by a chiropractor.  It was eye-opening for sure, and I needed to see for myself.  I was open to trying a supplement that would support the health of my telomeres, but I wasn’t interested in shakes.  Knowing there was a 30 day money-back guarantee, I decided, what the heck.  Clearly what I had been doing before wasn’t working and I WISHED I had a 30 day money-back guarantee for the green smoothies I made and the time I slaved in the kitchen!

Here’s the science behind the 2 products
I reluctantly/hopefully/skeptically started with.

For the science lovers, here is a 23 min video that had my skeptical physician hubby and I consider this nutrition:
